Treasurer’s February report was read by Tom Modica. The report was approved as read and the report is attached.

Membership Update was given by Jim Pace. The chapter currently has 122 members. There are approximately 20 new members Jim is working with who are potential transfers from other chapters or who are members at large with no current chapter affiliation.

Old Business

Car Show Update was given by Tom Modica. It will be held Sunday, July 20th between 10 AM and 2 PM at the Sunset Costcutter parking lot. Check in for volunteers will be around 8AM. Further details will be reviewed next month.

2014 VVA Budget was reviewed by Tom Modica. Various project costs, income and expense items were discussed as follows.

Project Costs – Memorial Day $500-1,000.

Boy/Girl State $0. Voted not to fund.

Scholarships $1,500.

VASH $0. Voted to pass the hat to chapter members rather than make a chapter contribution.

Income – Membership Dues $1,300.

Bottle Auction $500-1,000.

Car Show $2,000.

Car Show Food $300

Rickenbacker Contribution $2,400.

Expenses – VFW $500-750.

State Convention $750.

PO Box Rental $120.

Other Administrative $500.

Randy Elmore and Jim Pace discussed the Rickenbacker contribution and delivered his check for $2,400 to the membership. The membership expressed their thanks and appreciation to Rickenbacker for his generous contribution.

Jim Pace discussed whether our chapter should host the State VVA convention this year as a means to make money. Our costs would be small but there would be revenue received from the State Council and from registration fees. The convention would be for the third weekend in June and possibly be held at the Silver Reef Casino. Gene Goldsmith was going to review his files and determine if he had a list of items which was used by the last State Convention hosted by our chapter about four years ago. If he can find it, he will distribute it to the membership for further discussion. Jim will bring up the possibility of our chapter hosting the convention at the next State Council meeting.

Memorial Day Service was discussed by Gene Goldsmith. Ken Payne will do the food. Suggestions for speakers were discussed. Jim Pace will check with VVA National to see if any speakers are available.

New Business

Expenses for Seattle Overnight was discussed by Gene Goldsmith. Lodging for vets who are undergoing surgical procedures at the Seattle VA Hospital will be paid for by the VA if the veteran lives more than a two hour drive from the hospital. The two hour limit excludes Bellingham and some surrounding areas because the two hours does not take into account traffic or weather. Jim Pace discussed this with the VA and they said that they would be flexible on reimbursement.

Snack Night is March 21st.

Election Committee for this year’s chapter officers and board members was discussed. Randy Turnbull is the nominating committee and will be at the meeting next month to provide an election slate. Frank Wojciechowski is the only board member whose term expires in fiscal 2013.

Next meeting is April 1.

Sixth, Tom Modica mentioned that Johannah Wergin is getting married. She is the daughter of Klaus Wergin who is a chapter member.

Seventh, Tom Modica bought business cards inviting VASH vets to our monthly dinner and meeting. These cards are for chapter member’s use.
